ZAMBALES

MAPANUEPE LAKE - NEW ZEALAND OF ZAMBALES

Mapanuepe lake is a freshwater lake located in the province of Zambales in the Philippines. The lake was created after the cataclysmic eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991. Lahars following the eruption blocked the drainage of the Mapanuepe river, south of the volcano, flooding Mapanuepe Valley together with its settlements. Only the steeple of the church protruding out of the water remained from one of the villages.

We drove for almost 10hrs from Quezon City to Mapanuepe Lake. When we cross the bridge going to the lake all the challenges on the road start. We only use 150cc and 125cc motorcycles that's why it's hard for us to drive on rough and muddy roads especially when we cross lots of rivers. All tiredness is gone when we reach the beautiful place of mapanuepe lake.

For all the traveler who wants to go to Mapanuepe Lake, here are some tips for you.
*Bring enough food (there's only one store in the area).
*No electricity and internet connection.
*Only 4x4 cars and motorcycles can reach Mapanuepe Lake
*CLAYGO (Clean As You Go)

LEAVE NOTHING BUT FOOTPRINTS.
